Kindergarten
Instructor: Miss Cowsky

Kindergarten is a place to have positive learning experiences, which will help prepare them for their future. In this environment they will learn and develop the foundational skills necessary for success in school.  This full day program offers opportunities for developmentally appropriate activities to meet the needs of the total child:  socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.

CURRENT EVENTS
Neighborhoods and Community

Kindergarten will be talking about Neighborhoods and Community during this next 3 week unit.  This is a great opportunity to discuss with your child what you do in your community.  If you are currently employed, talk with your child about where you work, what you do at your job and the skills it takes to work in your current position.  What happens when you do not follow the rules of your work environment? Are there things you have to do to be SAFE, RESPECTFUL and RESPONSIBLE at your work? These are the main rules of our school that also overlap into our lives in general.  This discussion can open up conversation with you and your child about what their job consists of when they come to school.  Being safe means just that, walking in the halls and on the sidewalk, using scissors appropriately and keeping shoes tied.  Being respectful means to follow all teachers directions, stay in their own space, keep their hands and feet to themselves, to use good manners, and to treat others like they would want to be treated.  Being responsible means to bring your backpack and folder everyday, to bring your P.E. shoes when needed, and to do their very best on every task they are given.  Please take this time to talk with your child about your work place as we will be discussing jobs at school as well.

T-SHIRT ORDERS

If you would like to order a shirt, please return the order form (went home in orange folders Friday, the 24th) by Wednesday, SEPTEMBER 28, 2011.  The orders will be turned into the t-shirt shop on Wednesday evening.  We want to have them for our fieldtrip to the pumpkin patch on October 20th.  The t-shirt will be navy blue.

The pictures the children drew of themselves and all their first names will be on the back of the shirt.  Kindergarten 2011-2012 will be on the front left corner.  Please send your money with your order.   If paying by check make checks payable to: JULIES.
